Vein Therapy

Sclerotherapy

This procedure effectively treats superficial varicose and spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the small vessels. The sclerotherapy solution causes the vessels to collapse and scar down. The collapsed vessel is then reabsorbed into local tissue and eventually fades. We use both Hypertonic Saline and Asclera Solution.

Downtime: After sclerotherapy, treated vessels tend to fade within a few weeks, although occasionally it may take up to a month to see the full results. Several sclerotherapy treatments will be needed to achieve optimal results. Please do not shave your legs the day of your procedure since we use alcohol on your skin and shaving may increase the stinging. We also recommend that you wear loose pants or a long skirt as we will wrap your legs after the session. Finally, this procedure should not be done less than four weeks before a "sun" vacation since this can increase the incidence of discoloration.
